Cohiva Control vs Asset.Guru: maintenance and a fixed-asset register in one
Asset.Guru and Cohiva Control both keep a register of your assets, but they are built for different jobs. Asset.Guru is a dedicated asset-tracking and register product. Cohiva Control is a maintenance system that adds a native depreciation ledger, so one asset record carries through maintenance and onto your books. This page sets out where each one fits.

Where Asset.Guru is strong
Asset.Guru is a focused, purpose-built asset-tracking and register tool. It does the cataloguing job well: recording asset details, tracking custody through check-in and check-out, and keeping a clean register that is easy to search and report on. For an organisation whose main problem is knowing what it owns and where it is, Asset.Guru is a strong and sensible choice, and recommending it for a pure asset-tracking need is the honest call.
Where Cohiva Control is strong
Cohiva Control’s advantage is that the register is not the end of the story. The asset you record is the asset you maintain and the asset you depreciate, all on one record. Around the register sits a full CMMS: work orders on a server-enforced state machine, preventive maintenance on time or meter intervals, inspections that raise a work order on a failed item, and parts with reorder points. Then the depreciation engine runs six methods, straight-line, diminishing value, double declining balance, units of production, sum of years digits and AASB 16 leases, posting idempotent monthly journals to Xero, QuickBooks, NetSuite or Cohiva Crunch. Money is a fixed-precision decimal rounded half up, and depreciation never reduces book value below residual.
Each asset has a stable, immutable QR-codeable ID that is never reused on transfer or disposal, and every asset event lands on an append-only audit trail. The contractor-compliance gate is a hard 422 with no override, and Cohiva Control is database per tenant.
